Note to reader; I am a salesperson representative in One Percent Realty Vancouver
Island, I'm not a broker.
Have you thought about being a Realtor but are not sure about making the big commitment.
A typical Full time Realtor (example only - all brokerages have their own systems);
- Prospects for listings
- prospects for buyers
- answers calls all the time
- works when the customers what you to work
- advertising costs of $1000 a month or more
- web page development costs $1000 and hosting $100 a month
- pays desk fees of $600 - $1000 and or a monthly fee and or franchise fee or 60/40 commission split or 70/30 commission split (there are many different models)
- pays yearly and monthly dues to the real estate board.
Scott Simmons Team members;

- full support on everything from getting your licence to helping will all facets of business
- no desk fees or franchise fees
- Training and support from myself, our Brokerage and our Managing Broker
- pay yearly and monthly dues to the real estate board.
What you need;
- You need to have a real estate licence See below
- have a decent reliable car (not flashy and does not need to be new)
- have a cell phone (basic service with text messaging) after you get your licence
- have a computer with Internet access (high speed and a relatively new computer)
- have a printer and fax.
Who can become a team member;
Ideally you have realized that you need something that is positive, fun and somewhat financially rewarding. You should be:
- Trustworthy and have integrity (a must)
- high energy positive person
- self starter
- organized
- well spoken
- well read
- interested in meeting people
- sales background (not mandatory)
- financially stable (should be a home owner on Salt Spring) You had the dream of moving here at one time and went through the process of buying here. If you are not a owner on Salt Spring it is going to be challenging explaining why you don't have a house here. You have to believe in the product you are selling and you are selling Salt Spring real estate.
- money should not be your prime motivator. This is not a get rich quick scheme. Real estate is a very personal business and you have to really love doing the deal and making the buyers happy and or sellers happy. Yes you will make money but really that is the reward for doing a great job and being satisfied with a great feeling of satisfaction.
How does it work? Team members will be on shift two or three days a week and spend time with buyers looking at houses that the buyers have identified as homes they are interested in (these are pre-qualified buyers). Once you spend time with the buyer you will have the opportunity to follow up and complete the sale. You will make a very high percent of the commission payable for completing the sale.
How to get a Real estate Licence in BC

Qualify for licensing by taking the Real Estate Trading Services Licensing Course offered by the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business. This course is fairly basic however a high percentage of course is math and law. The test is 3 hours long and you need 70% to pass. I scored in the high 90's my goal was 100% but there was just to many questions that where ambiguous. I worked 2 month full time 40hrs a week on the course. The test was easy but I crammed 100 hrs before the test. They give you 1000 questions and the test is 100 questions from the 1000. I knew half from memory.

One Percent Realty is the future of Real Estate. This is your chance to join a fun, growing and rewarding company. You will get the advantage of working with me. I have had over 15 years of direct sales experience. From the day I retired out of the Canadian Army I have worked almost entirely as a Salesman and or Sales manager. I have had the pleasure recruiting and working with some of the best sales people in the country. I am also a consultant to one of Canada's top sales training companies. I have worked on the training systems that Canada's top cellular phone retailer uses.
If this is of interest and you think you are up to it lets go for coffee and chat.
My goal is to build a high energy team that captures 40% of the real estate business on Salt Spring and the Gulf Islands and permanently lower all real estate commissions so all islanders can save their home equity.
Cheers,
Scott Simmons
