I have the 1987 Soils of the Gulf Islands of British Columbia Volume 1 Soils of Salt Spring Island book and can send you any info from the book. The CRD natural atlas linked below is a wonderful map system that can be used to help you find your dream property. The Geology map and notes linked below have been compiled by Hugh Greenwood, Professor Emeritus, Department of Geological Sciences, The University of British Columbia.

This map was made for me by a great client. It is a topographic map with the local zoning and property lines on it. This is a very handy map. I have a large printed and laminated copy in my office.

Below are high resolution photos of the 1987 BC Soil Survey Map of Salt Spring Island. All parts of the island were surveyed and have a specific designation such as (MT) which stands for Metchosin. I have the book that goes with the map and the book give a detailed explination of the soil. So if you find a property you would like more information on let me know and I can send you the details of the soil. In reality the real estate you are buying is really dirt and rock so it might just be worth you while to know something about it especially if you are intrested in the agri aspects of the property. |
