Rob Irving was born and raised in Vancouver, moved later to Burnaby and spent most of his adult life in the great Vancouver area. He attended Simon Fraser University, completed a Bachelor of Education and taught for many years in Surrey elementary schools in grades 4 – 7, ESL and Learning Assistance. Rob took early retirement from teaching and moved to Salt Spring in September of 2005 because he felt the island offered a wonderful lifestyle and a great place to raise his two young sons. He couldn’t stay retired for long, however, and decided to pursue a second career, in real estate, so he could share his love of the “island lifestyle”.

Rob has bought and sold both residential and recreational properties. His extensive computer experience enables him to do detailed property searches for clients in a very short time. He is very familiar with the School District, being an ex-teacher, and he’s personally involved in many of the activities that draw people to Salt Spring. He is active in karate, volleyball, sailing, tennis, hiking, swimming and just spending a lot of time with his kids, usually doing the activities just mentioned. He has been on the Salt Spring Island Sailing Club Board of Directors for the past 2 years and was in charge of the Sailing School that runs for 8 weeks during the summer. He also volunteers with his local water district to do meter readings and checking of facilities.
Rob decided on One Percent Realty because he felt it offered clients the best value as it gave the same or better services at a lower cost. He also liked the “Team” approach of One Percent on Salt Spring which enables clients to work with any of the team members. From Rob’s point of view, a “Team” offers a lot more talents, experience and points of view than a single realtor could offer.
One of his favourite weekend activities is to head to the Saturday Market around 8:15 (before the crowds) and buy some local baking, organic goat cheese and coffee and then enjoy them on a bench by the water. You’ll find him there most Saturdays! |
