There is a general oversupply of Salt Spring real estate on market right now in the spring of 07 - there are about 250-300 listings to a population of about 10,000. If you compare that to Calgary Alberta (when it was really booming in 06) when they had about 3,000 listings to a population of about 1,000,000, it works out to about 10 times the listings to population. So for Calgary to have a similar ratio Calgary would need about 30,000 listings. If there were 30,000 listings in Calgary prices would likely be going way, way down to about 86 levels. In April 07 there are about 5000 listing in Calgary and it is a fairly steady market. to have a similar ratio we would need about 50 Salt Spring mls listings. Salt Spring is a buyers market it is a great time to buy a home on Salt Spring.
