Salt Spring real estate water report May 2007

This is a comparison of water rates for Salt Spring island BC, Vancouver BC and Seattle WA.

All volume charges are computed per hundred cubic feet (CCF).

Salt Spring Water rates for 2008 Group A up to one acre of land Service charge $195.00 plus .56 per CCF up to 20,000 gallons  

In Vancouver per CCF you pay $1.34 plus $4.80 per month or $57.60 per year service charge.

In Seattle per CCF $2.53 USD off peak months $2.88 CCF peak months plus $8.05 per month or $96.60 per year service charge.

Daily indoor per capita water use in the typical single family home is 69.3 gallons according to the America water works association.

748 US Gallons per CCF which would work out that the average home would use one CCF ever 10 days approx.  or 36.5 CCF per year.

So on Salt Spring it would cost the average family $20.44 + $195.00 = $215.00 per year.

Vancouver $48.91 + $57.60 = $106.51

Seattle $92.34 + $96.60 = $188.94 USD

So here you have it the water rate comparison we pay more that Vancouver but less than Seattle.
