Salt Spring Island is in ground hog day mode...do you remember the movie ground hog day when every day was a repeat of the day before. That is what happens here on Salt Spring Island in the summer. When you wake up it is beautiful sunshine and blue skies and it will stay that way until late September. Every day will be the same warm sunny and not to hot just right. If you have to work out side I recommend early morning or late afternoon. The midday sun can be hot (75 f- 80 f) if you are working on a project. Canadians have a different definition of what is hot, hot to us is 80f, I would die in Arizona.

Summer is when the island shines the only down side is that parking can be tight in town. Islanders are spoiled by having the island to them selves all winter, spring and fall when you can roll into town and park wherever whenever. Considering parking is free on the island and they do not issue parking tickets its not that bad. If you are going to go to the Saturday market it is wise to go before 9 am.

Did I mention that real estate on the island is selling at a brisk pace. May was a strong month for sales.
