This morning my wife found the ultimate book on "Soils of the Gulf Islands of British Columbia volume 1 Soils of Salt Spring Island" Report No. 43, BC Soil Survey, 1987. Wow what a book it came with a 1 to 20,000 scale map of the island and shows all the soil, drainage and subsoil.

It is a very interesting book to use as a resource for anyone thinking of moving here and becoming a farmer or building a house. The book talks about different crops that will grow in a area, natural vegetation, similar soils and water tables.

It another great resource on my quest for all Salt Spring information.
